Why Jesus Came

Why Did Jesus Come? What does the Bible say about why He came. What does Jesus say about why He came.
The verses below provide answers from various books in the New Testament alone. I will share a bit on each
selection, but more can be found at CalvaryDayton.com starting here. In the verses below, the NIV is used
throughout with a few other versions identified and inserted.
1&2 – Galatians 4:4-5. 4 But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the
law, 5 to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship.
3 – Mark 10:45. 45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom
for many.”
4 – Luke 5:31-32. 31 Jesus answered them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 32 I have not come
to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
AMP 31 And Jesus replied to them, “It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but [only] those who are
sick. 32 I did not come to call the [self-proclaimed] righteous [who see no need to repent], but sinners to repentance
[to change their old way of thinking, to turn from sin and to seek God and His righteousness].”
5 – Romans 5:8-10. 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for
us. 9 Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through
him! 10 For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much
more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!
6 – Hebrews 5:8-9. 8 Son though he was, he learned obedience from what he suffered 9 and, once made perfect, he
became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him
7 – Matthew 1:21. 21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his
people from their sins.
8 – Luke 19:10. 10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.
9 – John 6:38-40. 38 For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me.
39 And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at
the last day. 40 For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life,
and I will raise them up at the last day.”
10 – John 3:16. 16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall
not perish but have eternal life.
RGT 16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not
perish but have eternal life.
