Matthew 26:31-46

Matthew 26:31-46

The world is waiting to tempt you...and that temptation will bring you to a place of denying the power and the authority of God... The only way to overcome that temptation is to prepare yourself, and the only preparation that Jesus gives...is to watch and pray. Watch for the temptation and know that it's coming...and you won't be taken off guard by it... You've also got to spend time...with God because in your own strength, you're not going to overcome temptation.Right outside of these doors is temptation; a world waiting to tempt you, in many ways, with many vices, and that temptation will bring you to a place of denying the power and the authority of God Who created you, and will bring you to the place of even denying the salvation that Jesus gave to you through His blood. That’s what’s waiting outside. The only way to overcome that temptation is to prepare yourself, and the only preparation that Jesus gives to them is to watch and pray. Watch for the temptation and know that it’s coming, and you won’t be shocked by it, and you won’t be taken off guard by it. You’ll recognize it as a temptation, and it’s always easier to overcome your enemy when you know who your enemy is. And I can tell you right now, your enemy is temptation waiting outside these doors, so watch for it. But understand, watching alone is not going to help, but you’ve also got to pray. You’ve also got to spend time in relationship, in fellowship, with God Who created you, because in your own strength, even if you watch, you’re not going to overcome temptation. But when you’re right with God, when you’re walking with God, when you have that love relationship, and you’ve drawn close to Him, and you understand His will, it’s easier to overcome the temptation…

You know, I can’t speak to what you’re going to be facing this week, but I guarantee you this next week there will be challenges waiting for you. There will be temptation waiting for you. There will be hardship waiting for you. And you can almost hear the words of Jesus saying, if you’re not watching and praying, if you’re not prepared, you will fall away. I can tell you with certainty that if you are not preparing for that temptation and that hardship that you will find, you will struggle this week and be challenged to fall away. You will betray Jesus, and you will walk away from Him. If you’re not praying, if you’re not watching, if you are not preparing your life, it will come upon you in the form of surprise, and you’ll fall to it…

If Jesus decided to rapture the church tonight, where would you be found? Would you be found sleeping, not watching, not ready, not prayed up? If Jesus chose to rapture the church tonight, are you sure that you would be going with Him? Have you made preparations? Or, have you, like myself, and I have to tell you, so many times in my life, over silly little things, I have fallen away… Praise God, in each of those instances, Jesus went ahead of me and brought me back, took me by the hand and put me back on my feet, but I realized one thing. I’m like Peter. I’ve spent my life making bold proclamations, but do my bold proclamations add up to what’s actually in my heart? What do you truly believe? And if you truly believe it, if you believe that you are saved today, if you believe that you have relationship with Jesus today, then watch and pray and prepare your life because an end is coming, and there’s an enemy waiting right outside this door, and the only way to face this enemy and to walk to that end, is to be prepared. Otherwise, I can tell you, just as Jesus told His disciples, you will flee. You will fall away. That’s the choices that we’re faced with today.
