Matthew 24:27-51

Matthew 24:27-51

You know what? There is not a galactic struggle between good and evil in this universe. God is sitting comfortably on His throne.Anything that a man can build, a man can tear down. Anything that a man puts value it, another man will steal. The only thing that is of value that a man can’t steal is something that is given to us freely and doesn’t belong to us at all, and that is the love of God. The love of God comes at great cost to God Himself. The love of God comes at great expense: the cost of His own Son…

It’s not about the law, but it is about the love that comes and understanding that the law’s been broken and there needs to be forgiveness, and the only way there can be forgiveness is if you are actually loving. That’s why [Jesus] boils the two greatest commands into love the Lord Your God and love your neighbor. Had nothing to do with the binding to the law. It had everything to do with binding ourselves to the love of God and to the love of each other. Love overcomes; the law destroys. The law is exacting; love is forgiving. Love strengthens us; the law chases us…

We need to be found about the Lord’s work, what it is He’s called us to. Before the rapture and after the rapture, before He returns to this earth, He has set tasks before us, and He has asked us to live according to those tasks, to be faithful to those tasks…

You know what? There is not a galactic struggle between good and evil in this universe. God is sitting comfortably on His throne. God is overseeing this universe as He always has. He is not concerned about the power trip that Satan is trying to have. He is not sweating over the thought that He might somehow lose to this evil wickedness, this darkness that has come into the universe. He’s not heading out to face it head on because He’s worried about it one bit. Guess what? Satan is God’s servant. He is not more powerful. He is not equally as powerful. In fact, he is so much below God that it’s not even imaginable. He is nothing. He is like we are, as a worm. He does not have power over God. He has power to deceive, though, and that’s why Jesus says, “Don’t be deceived. I’m telling you what you can look forward to. I’m telling you how you should live your life. If you don’t want to be caught off guard, and you don’t want to be deceived, then live this way: honor God with your life, be found busy about His work.” Plain and simple. Easy formula…

We can be caught unaware. We can be deceived. We can ignore His warning, but He’s given us plenty of time to be warned by just looking at what’s going on around us. He says, pay attention. And paying attention means spending time in His Word, spending time in prayer, and watching what’s going on around you. Looking at how your neighbors are treating you and how you’re treating your neighbors. The love of many will grow cold in this time. He tells us that, and we see the love of many growing cold. But it doesn’t say the love of all…

But one day Jesus will call us to be with Him, and then He’s going to finish His work here on this earth, and He will return to this earth, and you can be assured of that. But it’s not happened yet, and for two thousand years men have been expecting it to happen. And it’s easy, then, to fall back on, well, He said it was going to happen a long time ago, and He’s taking a long time to come. Don’t fall into that trap…

Are we about what Jesus has asked us to do with our lives? Are we serving the way He’s asked? Or are we like that wicked servant, out doing our own thing because we don’t believe it’s going to happen?
