Matthew 12:15-37

Matthew 12:15-37

Jesus set a standard, and He blessed us in writing with that standard, and it's not a law. It's pages filled with love. A letter to you that says, "I love you..."No man is saved because of me. No man is healed because of me. No demon leaves because of me. That only happens because of the Spirit of God and His love and His interaction with us… And your salvation that you have, if you have salvation, only comes because the Holy Spirit has drawn you, has brought you to a knowledge of Who Jesus is, and so when you give your life to Jesus, it’s because of the Spirit of God…

You know what’s going to condemn you? You. I don’t have to condemn you. You know what, if I sit here and tell you, “You’re dying and going to hell,” means nothing, because you know what? God is going to judge you based on my condemnation of you. God could care less about my assessment of your spiritual condition. He didn’t ask my permission for you to be saved. He’s not going to ask my permission when you stand before Him. And He’s not going to ask any body else around you, either. I can tell you how to be saved. Ask Jesus into your heart. Jesus says, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes to the Father but by Me.” You have that knowledge now. “To all those who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.” You have all the knowledge you need to be saved in those statements. It’s not about me. It’s about Him. And guess what? It is your words, those things that you say, how you talk about Jesus, not only with your mouth but also in your heart, in your mind. He knows you. He knows everything about you. He knows if His Spirit is indwelling you…

You know what? I do not have the right to tell you how to live your life and, even as a pastor, I don’t have a right to tell you how to live your life, but if you’re going to come and sit in these chairs, you’re going to hear from God’s Word how to live your life. Whether you accept it or not is up to you. It’s not up to me, then, to come and bring this Bible and whack you upside the head with it when I see you doing something wrong! But yet, isn’t how we interact so often with each other? We try to force people to change based on our standard, our way of life… We look at people, and we judge them based on how we choose to approach God, and if those around us aren’t approaching God in that way, we condemn them. Be very thankful that God has not left your salvation up to me. Jesus set a standard, and He blessed us in writing with that standard, and it’s not a law. It’s pages filled with love. A letter to you that says, “I love you…”

We belong to Jesus. We can be saved through Jesus. We have to step away from the religious conceptions that we have that would condemn others. It’s not about what I believe in how you should be saved. It is only about what God’s Word says about how you should be saved, and if I’m telling you something different, you have the right to look me in the eye and say, “Bologna. It doesn’t say that in God’s Word.” but guess what that means? You need to know God’s Word. If you’re not studying God’s Word, if you’re not endeavoring to dig into God’s Word, then you’re not going to ever know if I’m telling you the truth… If you ever hear me say you don’t have to worry about reading your Bible, just come to this church and you’ll hear all the truth you need, flee, run quick because then we’ve stepped into the world of becoming a cult… Read it for yourself. Take responsibility for yourself.
