Matthew 5:1-12

Matthew 5:1-12

Blessing, real blessing, comes when we have an attitude of humility before God saying, "I can't do it on my own. Jesus, I need You."Have you ever wondered what it takes to be blessed, blessed by God? Do you realize God desires to bless you in your life? He pours the blessings of heaven out on you… But the real blessings come when our heart-attitude changes… What does the title “Beatitudes” mean? Well, I’ve come to the conclusion, it is an attitude of heart. A lifestyle that starts when we begin to hunger for the knowledge of God. When you truly desire to be right with God, something happens in your heart, and humility begins to happen, a humbleness begins to happen; when you truly begin to want to know God and your responsibility before God…

Have you ever wanted more [of Jesus]? I want more every day. I wake up and I say, “Lord, how can I serve You better? How can I be right with You today? I need and want more…”

I’ve come to that place of realizing that God doesn’t want my arrogant pride. God doesn’t want my strength. God wants my heart, and He wants me to also share my life with you and let you know that I have need. That, you know what? I can’t do it by myself. I may have a lot of muscle, but I don’t always have a lot of this up here [points to head], and together we can think things through, we can share, and we can accomplish am amazing amount in the name of Jesus together, but it takes meekness. It takes walking away from that pride that we live in, and then we’re blessed because our heart is transformed…

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they will be filled.” You know, I think this is where most of us fall short. Why we struggle in our lives the way we do. We hunger and thirst for a lot of things, and what we fail to understand is what we’re really hungering and thirsting for is that rightness that comes when you’re right with God. You know, you can’t be right on your own. You can not accomplish goodness on your own, but you’re blessed when you are hungry and you are thirsty and you come to that place of understanding what it is that I’m hungry and thirsty for is righteousness. And what is true righteousness? True righteousness is being in right relationship with God, and the only way to do that is by receiving and walking with Jesus, Whom He gave to us. That’s righteousness. Right relationship comes with Jesus, and then, when you ask Jesus into your life, you’re filled. If you are truly hungry and thirsty to be right with God, you then are filled with Jesus…

There is only one way to be pure in heart. There is only one way that you can be right in your life and be pure in your heart, and that is to be in love relationship with Jesus, growing in that love relationship, walking in that love relationship…

“Blessed are the peacemakers for they will be called sons of God.” Once we come into that relationship and we begin to understand Who Jesus is and what it is that He brought to this world, then we want to bring peace to other people. We want to resolve the issues that cause our brothers and sisters to be angry with each other, and we step in, and we try to help resolve those issues. And the only way those issues are resolved is by telling them, “You need to be right with the Lord. Once you have Jesus in your life, that’s when the situations are resolved. And if we accomplish that, if we start stepping up to bat and share with people how they can solve their problems and be right with their brothers and their sisters, then we get the blessing of being called sons of God…

Do you know where real blessing comes from? The real blessing comes when we stand firm in the Name and the Person of Jesus, and we share with others how much we love Jesus, and we’re persecuted for it… When you are persecuted because you love Jesus, you’ve gained reward. God is storing up for you amazing treasure in heaven. Blessing that you can’t imagine now…

We need to share our lives, we need to humble our hearts, and the only way that can happen is when you come to this place before Jesus’s feet…but it takes you coming to Him. He did the hard work. He came to us, and He gave His life for us… Blessing, real blessing comes when we have an attitude of humility before God saying, “I can’t do it on my own. Jesus, I need You,” and that’s where righteousness happens.
