John 8:12-19

John 8:12-19

John 8:11Vintage message from our 2002-2003 radio program called “Perspective” aired March 9, 2003.

Don’t mistake Jesus’s love for us as meaning that we do not have to deal with sin, because this is what He tells this woman [caught in the act of adultery]. “I don’t condemn you…but go, now, and leave your life of sin.” Make change in your life, and that would be my encouragement to anybody who hears me speak, just as it is encouragement to me to change those areas in my life that I know are sin. And I freely, willingly sit here, telling you today, that I, Pastor Dave, have sin in my life from time to time that needs to be dealt with. You know what? I don’t like the fact that God’s Word points it out, that I can read God’s Word and find it clearly in His Word…

But that’s what we do so often: we see the verse that we don’t like, we see the thing that would condemn us, and rather than hearing Jesus’s Word say, “I just want you to change. Confess your sin. Deal with it”…we take the page and we tear it out. We don’t want to deal with God’s Word. But Jesus, Jesus wants to deal with it. Jesus wants us to deal with it, and He wants us to bring change into our lives… “Go, but leave your life of sin.” And sometimes that’s hard to do…

Do you want to know the truth in your life? Do you want to be able to deal with what is there that holds you away from that victorious relationship with God? Then walk with Him, and see those things in your life that need to be changed…

“Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness.” It’s a choice we have. That we will be able to walk and have that Light of life in us… We can walk in the brightness of God’s love.
