John 5:21-30

John 5:21-30

John 5:24Vintage message from our 2002-2003 radio program called “Perspective” aired December 1, 2002.

One of the things that Jesus is about is telling the truth. You know, part of our problem within Christendom…is that we have developed rules and regulations, we have developed traditions that have nothing to do with truth, and then we try to bind people to our rules and regulations…and our way, most of the time has very little to do with truth… It’s not about our rules and regulations. It is not about our traditions. It is not about what makes us feel comfortable. I don’t care if you’re hearing the sound of my voice tonight and feeling like your toes are stepped on. Once again, it is not my place to care about that. It is my place to care about what God’s Word says…

Honoring God is not about doing good things. Honoring God is not about showing up at church. Honoring God is not about carrying your Bible…. It’s not about any of those things. Honoring God is about honoring the Son. Looking at Jesus for Who He was, and giving Him that place within our lives that is rightly due Him, because that’s the place the Father gave Him. The Father gave Him the place of judgement. The Father gave Him the place of respect. The Father gave Him the place of honor. And if you want to honor the Father, then you must honor Jesus because the Father sent Him…

[Jesus] desires for us to live in Light. He desires for us to live in Him. He desires for us to know the Father, and the only way you can truly know the Father is to know the Father through Him… You want to be right with God? I don’t care if you’re living in sin or not, you can be right with God. You get right with God, first and foremost, by understanding the truth. The truth doesn’t come with tradition. The truth doesn’t come in buildings. The truth doesn’t come because of our religion. The truth comes by knowing and receiving Jesus Christ as the Son of God sent by the Father.
