John 4:39-54

John 4:39-54

John 4:42Vintage message from our 2002-2003 radio program called “Perspective” aired November 10, 2002.

Whose will are we doing? Are we doing the will of a denomination? Are we doing the will of a church doctrine?… Or are we doing the will of Him Who has sent us?.. What [spiritual] food do we eat? Do we only worry about our own belly in the flesh or do we fill ourselves up by accomplishing the work that God has brought before us?…

And sometimes, sometimes, Jesus has to get blunt with those who claim to love Him. Oftentimes, Jesus has to get blunt with me. I close my eyes, I close my ears, and I close my heart because I don’t like the circumstances in which He’s asked me to dwell in, and then He has to get blunt with me, and He has to smack me upside the head…

Are you truly a man or woman of God that loves to serve the Lord Who saved you? Do you love telling people about Jesus?… So often, because we are afraid we might step on someone’s toes, because we are afraid of what their response to us might be, we keep our mouths shut or we approach it from the politically correct position…

We have nothing to brag about, but we have everything to be glad about. We have everything to be grateful for. Jesus has done the work, His Spirit has continued the work, and His Father has equipped us, now, to do the work, so let’s get out. Let’s do the work that Jesus has asked of us and reap a harvest and stop using excuses and stop being like the disciples who have no clue what’s going on. Stop trying to impress Jesus, and trust Him, and step out and serve Him, and obey Him…

How many people are there alive on the face of this world today that would benefit from your testimony regardless of whether or not you ever get the credit? They’ll benefit because their hearts may be spurred to the point of seeking after the Living God, that they might finally hear the truth of His Word and become acquainted with Him because of your testimony. I believe that it is so important that we share who we are in Jesus Christ, regardless if anyone ever recognizes the work we’re doing, whether or not anyone ever gives us the credit… And it is amazing the response that comes when we simply step out in that truth…

Jesus is the place we need to turn for a miracle. Jesus is the place we need to be when a miracle is needed. Jesus is the One we need to know in order to have a miracle… You know, people oftentimes use Jesus as their own personal magic spell. They believe, somehow, that Jesus is at their beck and call, and that Jesus must do everything that they command Him to do… And this is where the rubber hits the road for the church, for the believer in the church, where are you at in your walk with the Lord? Do you simply believe Jesus or His Word for where He is at? Or are you one of those that is going to demand to see the miracle before you believe?…

Jesus was about drawing men into love relationship with Himself, and bringing them to that place where they would be able to spend eternity with His Father. He showed them the love of the Father, and He showed them the power of the Father, but there are some people who only expect to see magic and not the power of God. And once again, I have to ask the question, where do you find yourself tonight? Do you find yourself only hoping to see a little bit of that spiritual magic, or do you truly hope to walk right in Jesus Christ?
