Vintage message from our 2002-2003 radio program called “Perspective” aired November 3, 2002.
The fact of the matter is, it doesn’t matter what church you go to, it doesn’t matter how long you’ve gone to church, it doesn’t matter if you wear robes or you wear a suit or if you wear blue jeans. God is not impressed with the size of our building or the size of our Bible. God is not looking on the external. God is not looking at the good works that we do. God is not looking at the places that we choose to worship. God is looking deeper. He is looking for the true worshipers. The worshiper that worships Him in Spirit — His Spirit, filled with His Spirit, directed by His Spirit — and truth. The truth of the matter is, you and I deserve death. You and I deserve separation, and it is the blessing of God that we are allowed, now, to come into His Presence. It is His blessing to us, and the more we can say that, the more we can come to grips with that, the closer we draw to that place where we are worshiping Him in Spirit, and that’s what He’s looking for: truthful, Spirit-filled worship… Understand what I am saying: worship that is done in the Spirit is done because the Holy Spirit is dwelling within you, and you have allowed Him to come into your life, and then He will display His fruit, and He will give you His gifts however He chooses to do that. But the truth of the matter is, we have to acknowledge that Jesus Christ is our Savior and that it is by His blood that we have that salvation; that we do not deserve that salvation, but is given to us as a gift. That’s truth, and if you try to convince yourself otherwise, if you think that religion is going to do it, if you think that suits and ties is going to do it, if you think that robes is going to do it, if you think that crawling on your hands and knees and begging God is going to do it, it’s all false, and you worship what you don’t know…
Stop using these social, politically-correct things to hide behind. I don’t care if it’s politically incorrect. You know what? I’m going to tell the world the truth, if they like to hear it or not, it’s the truth… I don’t care if you like it or not. The fact of the matter is, the truth hurts, if it’s politically correct for me to say it or not. God’s Word has already said it.
