John 2:1-11

John 2:1-11

John 2:11Vintage message from our 2002-2003 radio program called “Perspective” aired September 15, 2002.

One of the things in life that we struggle with: we want everything right now. We live in a fast food society. We want fame and glory yesterday. We want everyone to recognize us for who we are supposed to be, not what we are today. We want people to be able to look at us and be our best friend today. We want to encounter life and have life give us everything we deserve without ever having to be challenged by that life. We think somehow we deserve everything we want, when we want it, because we want it… Jesus gives a great example of what it means to be patient in life; to wait on the things that God has for us. Do you realize that there is a time set for us in everything that we do? That God in His perfect time, if we will just allow Him, will raise us up and use us in a mighty way if we will allow Him to…

Do you realize that the greatest blessings that you can have in life are often the blessings given to you when you have served God in secret? When it’s just between you and Him…

Do you realize that the more you endeavor to trust and believe God’s Word for what it says, the more you put your faith in God’s Word, understanding that His Word is literal, that you can believe every word of it, that you can trust every word of it. When you’ve dug a little deeper, when there’s something that you don’t understand, I believe the more literal you take God’s Word, the closer to God you’re going to walk, because it begins to make sense to you then… If you endeavor to obey God’s Word, let me tell you, there is blessing waiting for you…

If you are stepping out to honor God, if you are stepping out to see and be part of the miracle that God does, don’t step out to try to bring attention to yourself. Allow the Holy Spirit to do it through you. As Jesus is our example, let Him be the One Who gets the glory, let Him be the One Who receives the honor, and then let Him be the One that blesses you and I as we step out to serve and honor Him…

I want God to be able to look into my heart — and I’m not perfect, I make a lot of mistakes, I do stupid things sometimes — but every day I endeavor to look into God’s Word and dig a little deeper, and when I’m wrong, God’s Word lets me know that, and then I can confess my sin before God and He deals with it, and then I am found approved before Him, and He is the only One that I am concerned about impressing. He is the only One that I am concerned about allowing to see inside my heart… God knows my heart. God should know your heart. Study to show yourself approved to Him and dig a little deeper.
