2 Samuel 5:11-6:11

2 Samuel 5:11-6:11

2 Samuel 6:9Vintage message from April 18, 1999. (The original message was cut off at the end.)

Do you realize that God does not stop loving you because you have sin in your life? God will not stop using you because you have sin in your life. God will not reject you because you have sin in your life. Now, am I telling you that it’s okay to go out and sin, then? No, I’m not, because the issues of sin that [King] David had in his life became a major snare to him and was a downfall to him… The issues of sin that we allow to continue in our lives will eventually destroy us if we do not deal with those issues of sin, but it doesn’t mean that God stops loving us… So my encouragement to you today is if you’ve got sin in your life, deal with it! Go to God with it, and tell Him, “Yes, Lord, I am struggling with sin,” because He already knows it, and He’s not going to stop loving you. But too many people end up struggling with their sin to the point of depression, that they walk away from God, believing that there is no way that God could love them…

I don’t care what the battle is that is going on around us. I don’t care who is in search of us. I don’t care what harm they want to do to us. If we will take the time to inquire of God, if we will take the time to seek the friendship of God, if we will take the time to let God know what we’re going through and how we feel about it, God will deal with our problem…

This is another problem I find within Christendom: we assume a lot upon God. Long before we ask, we move… Just because we are Christians does not mean we make the decisions for God. We need to ask, we need to inquire, and we need not assume everything — that God will give us victory. God may not want us to even fight a battle. He may want us to back off… Another weakness of believers: we believe because God did one thing one way one time that He’s going to do it that way every time…

Is your desire simply to bring others to a place of worshipping and honoring the Living God that you have a relationship with?… God wants us simply to love Him and be in right relationship with Him… God wants us to honor Him because He’s God, because He’s the Creator…
