2 Samuel 5:1-10

2 Samuel 5:1-10

2 Samuel 5:4Vintage message from April 11, 1999.

How many times do we find ourselves in this place of questioning God at every turn? “God, why aren’t You being the God that You are supposed to be? If You’re all powerful, God, then You’ll do these things for me!” All of a sudden, it’s all about me… We become so self-centered…that we forget, God is not in my hand, but I’m in His. God is not my vessel to be used in my timetable, but I am His vessel in His hands to be used when, where, and how He wants…

There are things I would like to see happen in my life. There are things I would like to see happen in this church. There are things I would like to see happen in my friends’ lives. But have we yet waited on God for His timetable? That’s where we need to be, is simply waiting on God, allowing God to do what He wants to do, and then God will fulfill His promises…

While God is fulfilling this greater plan and this greater purpose, God is also dealing with you and I individually. He’s not too busy dealing with my problems that He can’t deal with your problems. He’s not so taken up with me that He can’t also be taken up with you and, in fact, He wants to… God wants to make us part of the fulfillment of His Word… We need to come to the place now of stopping and saying, “God, I’ve looked at my life far too much. I’ve tried to twist Your arm far too much to make the things happen that I want to happen. I’ve tried to work within my timetable. I’ve tried to make You live my life rather than me living the life that You want…

It takes denying ourself… We have gotten so caught up in this life. This life is all about me. Well, let me tell you something. Life is not about me. Life is not about you. Life is about God and what He wants to accomplish in this world. Life is about what His Holy Spirit wants to do in and through us to bring this world to repentance.
