1 Samuel 28:1-25

1 Samuel 28:1-25

Vintage message from December 27, 1998. (The original message had imperfections and was cut off at the end.)

Let me ask you a question real quick: what happens when that person that you look up to is removed? I mean, who of you have someone that you look up to spiritually? I know probably most of us in this room do have someone that we look up to spiritually: spiritual father, spiritual mother, a pastor, a friend, someone that we look up to spiritually, someone that we go to when we’re struggling, someone that we go to when we’re having problems, someone we go to when we need someone to pray for us. We have those people in our life. What do we do when those people are removed?…

When people do not put their full faith in the Lord, when people decide that they’re just going to play games, when people are just “church-goers,” when things get tough and God does not speak to them…what’s the first thing they do? They turn to the world. They turn to the things of the world. They turn to those things that have what they believe is supernatural power, that might give them some answers…

God wants us to know that He’s in control even though, when God is in control, it does not always mean that we’re going to be comfortable. Are you willing, today, to say, “God, let me be uncomfortable as long as You’re in control”? Are we at this place in our life where we can say, “God, if bad has to happen to me in order for Your will to be accomplished, then let it come. If my life has to be taken, if You have to sacrifice my life in order that Your good may be done to this world, then God, go ahead.” Are we at that place where we can say that?…

First and foremost, God just simply wants us to obey Him even if we don’t understand His command…
