[This] is something, I believe, that we each need to come to grips with. We need to say that when God raises up a man that maybe, just maybe, God knows what He’s doing, and that person is as usable to God as I am… How many of us are willing to say that of ourselves: “God, You use anybody else around me that You want to use…” Because, you know what? It’s not about me. It’s not about what I can do. It’s not about my ability to teach God’s Word. It’s not that I can impress anybody. It’s about what God is doing, and how God is doing it. And you know, there are times that we get in God’s way. We demand that God use us in ministry. We expect God to do great things with us, and when God starts raising up somebody else, we get jealous, and we cling to that that God had used us in. And I have seen ministry after ministry brought down because men clung to the ministry rather than clinging to God Himself and saying, “God, You do what You want to do. Use me how You want to use me, and if You want me to be king for a day, that’s fine; if You then want me to be a servant, then do that in me, too.” …I believe that God wants to bring us each to that place of humbling ourself before Him, in allowing Him to raise up whom He will, when He wants to…
God’s will is not up to me. I do not tell God what to do, when to do it, or where to do it. It is in God’s hands to use me how He will… We can build our own kingdom. We can take charge of our own kingdom. We can take charge of our own lives. We can live life how we want, how we choose, and God will let us… God will allow for us to build our own little kingdom but understand, God will always have His way. Always. He’s not deterred because of us. He’s not stopped because of us. If we want to live in sin, He’ll let us live in sin… Are we ready to step out of the way and let God do what He wants? Are we ready to let God be God, and we be His servants, His vessels to use as He will, not as we will?
But, Lord, I want Your will to be done. I want for You to be able to use me how You will. Lord, I want You to be able to use our praise team as You will. Lord, I want You to be able to use my family as You will. And Lord, I want You to be able to use each and every person in this fellowship as You will. Take those choices that we would make and, Lord, if they’re usable, use them. If they’re not, show us. Show us then, Lord, how to step back and recognize the men and women around us whom you do want to use, and let us be excited about it. Let us fall in love with those, Lord, that are serving You because You’ve called them to serve.
