PART 6: Life Affirming Scriptures (all ESV)
John 6:32-33. Very truly I tell you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is the bread that comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”
John 6:35. I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.
John 6:47-48. Very truly I tell you, the one who believes has eternal life. I am the bread of life.
John 6:63. The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life.
John 6:68. Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.
John 8:12. When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
John10:10. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
John 10:28. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.
John 11:25. Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.”
John 14:6. Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
John 17:1-3. Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
John 20:31. But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.
The last two entries above come first before Jesus’ crucifixion and the latter after His resurrection. There is much more to both. I hope you will explore both. John ends his book with 21:25, Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written. I mention this because it is good to remember what we are reading in the Bible about Jesus is really a summary of all that He accomplished in healing and teaching. Only in heaven will we find out just how much more He did. Tomorrow we enter the book of Acts.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, Thank You for the book of John where we find out, without question, Jesus is the author of eternal life for us. He gave His life for us to pay for our sins and then His resurrection showed the truth of the promise of eternal life with Him and You. – In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
