PART 4:  Life Affirming Scriptures (all ESV)

Lamentations 3:58. You have taken up my cause, O Lord; you have redeemed my life.

Ezekiel 18:27. Again, when a wicked person turns away from the wickedness he has committed and does what is just and right, he shall save his life.

Ezekiel 33:5. He heard the sound of the trumpet and did not take warning; his blood shall be upon himself. But if he had taken warning, he would have saved his life.

Ezekiel 33:15. if the wicked restores the pledge, gives back what he has taken by robbery, and walks in the statutes of life, not doing injustice, he shall surely live; he shall not die.

Daniel 3:25. I [King Nebuchadnezzer] see four men unbound, walking in the midst of the fire, and they are not hurt; and the appearance of the fourth is like a son of the gods.

Daniel 6:20-22. As he came near to the den where Daniel was, he cried out in a tone of anguish. The king declared to Daniel, “O Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to deliver you from the lions?” Then Daniel said to the king, “O king, live forever! My God sent his angel and shut the lions’ mouths, and they have not harmed me, because I was found blameless before him; and also before you, O king, I have done no harm.”

Daniel 12:2. And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

Malachi 2:5. My covenant with him was one of life and peace, and I gave them to him. It was a covenant of fear, and he feared me. He stood in awe of my name.

Matthew 6:25Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?

Matthew 6:27. And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?

Matthew 9:24-25. Jesus said, “Go away, for the girl is not dead but sleeping.” And they laughed at him. But when the crowd had been put outside, he went in and took her by the hand, and the girl arose.

Matthew 16:25. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

Matthew 19:29. And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands, for my name’s sake, will receive a hundredfold and will inherit eternal life.

Matthew 20:28. Even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

Matthew 25:46. And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.

In case you have not figured it out yet, I am going through the Bible book by book taking a quick look for life affirming verses and have finally made it into the New Testament. Sometime next week we will get through Revelations and then back to the normal Verse of the Day.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, Thank You for showing us just how incredibly life affirming Your Word is. Thank you that even Jesus’ death was life affirming for all of us who would turn to Him in great humility thanking Him for paying the price for our sin. – In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
