PART 9: Life Affirming Scriptures (all ESV)
2 Timothy 1:1. Greetings, Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God according to the promise of the life that is in Christ Jesus
2 Timothy 1:8-10. Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God, who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began, and which now has been manifested through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel
2 Timothy 3:1-12. You, however, have followed my teaching, my conduct, my aim in life, my faith, my patience, my love, my steadfastness, my persecutions and sufferings that happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, and at Lystra—which persecutions I endured; yet from them all the Lord rescued me. Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted,
Titus 1:1-2. Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, for the sake of the faith of God’s elect and their knowledge of the truth, which accords with godliness, in hope of eternal life, which God, who never lies, promised before the ages began
Titus 3:5-7. He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to His own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by His grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
Hebrews 2:14-16. Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery. For surely it is not angels that he helps, but he helps the offspring of Abraham.
Hebrews 13:5. Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Hebrews 13:7. Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith.
Stopping here, tomorrow (for Tuesday) I will begin with the book of James. In many of the verses above I have included some context in the hope you will want to dig deeper into these verses and learn yet more. I was moved by many and wanted to write more, but reminded myself I am posting life affirming scripture to show God’s heart even though He does not condemn suicide.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, Incredible promises where we are grafted into the tree that is Abraham and then share in the promises to him. You continue to bless us mightily. – In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
