Isaiah 41:10 NIV
10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Isaiah 41:10 CJB
10 Don’t be afraid, for I am with you; don’t be distressed, for I am your God.
I give you strength, I give you help, I support you with my victorious right hand.
Powerful verse here in Isaiah 41 and not the only one to address fear by saying there is no need to fear. In fact He drives this home with the next three verses, “All who rage against you will surely be ashamed and disgraced;
those who oppose you will be as nothing and perish. Though you search for your enemies, you will not find them. Those who wage war against you will be as nothing at all. For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.
In do not fear for I am with you, is both a command, fear not, and a promise, I am with you. And then again in verse 13, the command, Do not fear, and the promise, I will help you. With His promise and His command, with God on our side we can be courageous in doing His will. With promises like this we are led to trust Him completely, with all of our hearts.
It should also be noted verse ten above is closely connected to verses eight and nine, But you, Israel, my servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, you descendants of Abraham my friend, I took you from the ends of the earth, from its farthest corners I called you. I said, ‘You are my servant’; I have chosen you and have not rejected you. As Christians, this applies to us as we have been adopted into the family of Abraham as we are told in Galatians 3:29, If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Thus, God’s words in Isaiah 41 reach all the way through time to us, to comfort us. He has our back. No matter what happens here in this life, we are part of His family, because Galatians 3:26 tells us, So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith. How wonderful to know, not only will He be with us, but He will strengthen us and help us in this life. As a result we can deal with many trials and tribulations knowing this. Also, the verse for today has been turned into a song or hymn many times. Here a link to a popular one.
Let us, in our Christian walk, trust Him knowing He has our back and He strengthens us. We may go through many things in this life, but we know we are all children of God through faith with so much to look forward to. Let our trust, faith, and belief continue to grow and grow.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, Thank You for reminding us of Your love and how we are part of Your family with so much to look forward to. Help us to always trust in you. – In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
