Riley Driver grew up on four acres in a farming community in Northern Ohio. He joined the Air Force when he was 18. In 1971, he married Sharon Anderson – they eloped after dating for just ten weeks, however 25 years later they had a full-service wedding dedicating their marriage to Christ. The Air Force brought them to Dayton, Ohio in 1975, and they have remained in the area ever since. They have two grown children, Jennifer and Nathan, and four grandchildren – Rheya, Ethan, Emily, and Finn. They also own the Dayton Chess Club in downtown Dayton. In 2011, they began a Monday evening Bible Study for Calvary Chapel of Dayton.
Pastor Riley was saved during a car trip to Cincinnati, and that decision transformed him from a selfish, self-centered atheist to an ordained Calvary Chapel pastor over a more than thirty year period. He has a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Master of Arts degree in Christian Studies, but his real education began eight years ago under the tutelage and mentoring of Pastor Dave Elkins, the founder of Calvary Chapel Dayton.
Pastor Riley loves studying, sharing, and teaching God’s Word with the goal of making it alive – especially how we are loved by God, how we can live in His Gift of Grace, and how we are to love others as well. It is Pastor Riley’s desire to show that the Word can become part of our lives not just on Sundays (the classroom), but in our lives in the days, weeks, months, and years to follow so that we might Walk With Jesus Daily.
Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. (1 Peter 5:2-3)
